Caunton Engineering were pleased to of supplied the main and secondary structural steelwork for three new logistics centres at the Omega site near Warrington for major main contractor McLaren Construction. Omega is a property development site in Warrington , comprising 226 hectares straddling the M62 motorway. The site comprises a large part of the former RAF Burtonwood airbase. This latest development comprises 735,000 sq.ft. of speculative warehouse development at the Omega South site. It is the second phase of the development. Omega is currently the largest mixed-use development site in the North West. Omega South is made up of three logistics centres of 307,000 sq. ft., 203,000 sq. ft. and 225,000 sq. ft.
Each building will include rooftop solar panels which will meet around 50% of the facility’s regulated energy. Caunton supplied 2,000 tonnes of structural steelwork for these buildings. Each building comprises four spans of portal –framed steelwork, and each includes a two storey steel framed office block. The structural steelwork is designed by the Caunton Technical Team.
