Caunton Engineering's steelwork is for garden and leisure retailer, The Range, and their new distribution warehouse at Gateway 14, Stowmarket. For this contract, speed was of the essence, with Caunton having supplied and erected the main and secondary steelwork in just nine weeks for the 111,000 metre squared warehouse. With sustainability at the heart of this project, a large percentage of the steel tonnage was produced from recycled steel.
Our site manager for the contract said "completing the 1,982 metre squared office first, gave us a stable core from which to start our work. We then erected the main building in a phased programme, with the central spans going up first, followed by the outer spans". We are pleased to have been awarded the contract by main contractor, Winvic Construction, for this impressive distribution centre.
