Caunton sponsors the annual Caunton 'Engineering and Innovation Award' at the University of Nottingham for final year MEng and MSc students.

The prize and certificates for this Caunton Advanced Structural Design module, which is led and supervised by Dr Walid Tizani, were presented at the University of Nottingham Civil Engineering Graduation celebration recently. They were presented by Robert Weeden, Caunton's Technical Director and Gavin Christie, Caunton's Senior Technical Manager.

Caunton's own engineers have been lending their expertise and working closely with the students in developing their design and this year it was for an Airport Terminal. The quality and creativity of the finished designs was outstanding and most certainly represents Engineering Excellence and Innovation.

The designs were impressive and innovative solutions, which were tested to be structurally sound with sustainability and constructability credentials. The standard was very high and the judges reported a mean project mark of 71% and a maximum of 89%. Two designs were in fact shortlisted, which resulted in an overall winning team.
