Caunton supplied the structural steelwork for a major new aircraft hangar at London Oxford Airport near Kidlington. This, hangar No. 14, is the largest single facility built at Oxford to date, increasing total hangar-age at Oxford Airport by 78% over the last 5 years to 240,500 sq.ft.

Main contractor Kier Marriott constructed this latest new facility for the Airport - a 120m by 37m hangar (47,792 sq.ft.) with independent landside access, offices and car parking built to client requirements. Each of the three bays measures 37m (D) by 40m (W) and will comfortably take Global Express or Gulfstream 550 business aircraft or typical regional airliners such as the BAe 146 or Dash-8 family with Megadoors measuring 32m by 9m clear opening. Caunton designed, as well as supplied and erected the frame, which comprises latticed roof members mounted on steel columns.

Caunton are of course a major design and build specialist and are gaining a major national reputation with designing large span structures such as here at Oxford.
