There has been much construction activity over the past few months at RAF Brize Norton. The sad, but proud, duty of receiving our fallen military personnel killed in action, has now transferred to RAF Brize Norton from RAF Lyneham as of 1 September 2011. The deceased are flown back on a C-17 of Number 99 Squadron where members of their families are waiting at the new purpose built Repatriation Centre.

But this has not been the only building activity at this, the largest station in the RAF. Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has won the design and build contract for a new air despatch facility for 47 Air Despatch, Royal Logistics Corps, at RAF Brize Norton. Caunton were pleased and proud to be awarded the contract for the structural steelwork for this prestige project.

Work started in August 2011 to provide 9,400 sq. m of offices, equipment storage and operational capacity. This will help ensure the speedy, efficient delivery of supplies to overseas destinations and help 47 Air Despatch Royal Logistics Corps better support military operations. Caunton Engineering are delighted to be involved with work so vital to our national security.
