Caunton have been involved in the development of what is expected to be one of the largest office parks in the country. The plan for the Cobalt Business Park is that on completion over 7000 people will be employed there.
Caunton have provided the steelwork for eight office buildings there (9, 9B,13B, 13C, 14, 16 , 23 and Plot D Cobalt South). Thus far, each in the region of 5,000 square meters floor area. The steel frame is fabricated to Corus’ Slimflor specification utilising asymmetric section beams (ASB). These are configured such that there is an attendant reduction in the thickness of the floor depth, and hence a lowering of the overall height of the building. This leads to economies, in the cost of cladding for example.
