Further progress at EcoPark, the North London sustainable waste management hub, reported in the press

Progress with the Resource Recovery Facility(RRF) at the Edmonton EcoPark for the North London Waste Authority is reported in the latest New Steel Construction. Caunton is supplying and erecting nearly 2000te of structural steelwork for main contractor Taylor Woodrow. This RRF is one of the largest publicly owned facilities of its kind in London, with the capacity to manage 135,000 tonnes of recyclable material every year. The building requires seven 150te-plus trusses the erection of which is shown graphically on Caunton Web Site news of 8th November 2021. Engineered by Waterman Structures, the article quotes that the initial design had trusses at 8m centres, but after a value engineering exercise this was rationalised to fewer trusses spaced at 24m, and as well as cost and programme benefits this design enhancement contributed to towards a carbon reduction of approximately 720te in the frame.
