Caunton Engineering fully compliant with the successor to CE marking – UKCA Marking

Businesses in the UK were facing one of the most significant changes in decades as the UK prepared to leave the European Union (EU), and in particular the structural steelwork industry faced the need to replace CE Marking with a national standard.
UKCA marking is the UK product marking that is now used for goods being placed on the market in GB. It covers goods which previously required CE marking. The UKCA marking demonstrates compliance with the appropriate UK designated standard for a product. All mainstream construction products are covered by UK designated standards and must therefore be UKCA marked, although CE marking can still be used in GB until 31 December 2021.
Caunton Engineering has of course been fully compliant with CE Marking since the introduction of the harmonised standard for fabricated structural steelwork, BS EN 1090-1 on 1 July 2014. This will continue to be the case for UKCA Marking.
The British Constructional Steelwork Association, BCSA, has produced a comprehensive publication “ Steel Construction – UKCA Marking”.
