Caunton supply both the frame and the fit out for Winvic’s major distribution warehouse

In 2019 Caunton Engineering were very pleased to supply the structural steelwork for a high bay distribution warehouse for major contractor Winvic Construction. This 532,000 sq. ft. warehouse is located at Hinckley Park in Leicestershire.
This year Caunton were delighted to be awarded the order from Winvic Construction to supply the steelwork for a three storey mezzanine structure as a “fit-out” within the main structure of the warehouse. It is designed to allow a fourth floor to be constructed later.
The main building’s structure is 319.46 m long x 145.050 m wide. Each mezzanine floor is 226m long and 73m wide, therefore providing a total of nearly 50,000 m2 of floor area.
The mezzanine steel frame is connected to the main frame of the warehouse with movement joints with sliding bearings, to allow the warehouse structure and the mezzanine to move independently. The mezzanine has significant plan bracing and vertical bracing to assure its stability. The flooring is made up of 38mm timber particle boards supported by cold rolled joists at 600mm centres.
For this fit-out, Caunton is supplying 1760 tonnes of hot rolled steel and 317 tonnes of cold rolled steel, and are providing the timber boards.
The company’s secondary steelwork team are providing hand railing around the mezzanine and steel stairs within it.
Caunton Engineering are most pleased to be contributing to such a major project.
