Caunton Engineering are most pleased to have been awarded the contract for the supply and erection of the structural steelwork for a new distribution centre in Knottingley, Yorkshire for main contractor Caddick Construction . Yorkshire-based Caddick Construction are building this £50m distribution centre near Wakefield, Yorkshire for global real estate investment manager AEW.
AEW in fact bought the site from Caddick Group and are funding the development for its recently launched €290m develop-to-core UK logistics venture with Allianz.
Caddick Construction started the 512,000 sq. ft. facility – now named Wakefield 515 – in the first quarter of 2020.
Caunton are responsible for the design of this Portal Frame building 130.600 m wide (in 4 No. 32.650 m spans) x 348.0 m long, enclosed under a curved roof, requiring Caunton to supply and fabricate 1600te of steelwork.
