Caunton’s steelwork for an advanced egg packing plant.

Caunton are supplying the steelwork for a Free Range Packing Centre which will be using the latest technology and most advanced equipment in the global egg industry. (It aims to redefine the standard of an egg grading factory, and is designed for energy saving and H&S as a priority). Noble Foods, the client, predicts that the £14.6million plant located in Standlake,Oxfordshire, will be the best packing centre in Europe if not the world! Noble Foods' flagship brand is the well-known and most popular Happy Egg.

Specialist contractor Clegg Food Projects will construct the plant and Clegg’s business development director, John Moxon, has said: “This is a large-scale specialist project and our skills and vast experience of delivering schemes of this size mean we are ideally placed to meet the requirements of this contract.” Caunton have a long history of working with Clegg Food Products – see Caunton web site news – for Greggs(21.07.11), for Adams Butter(19.04.11), and for Buxted Chicken(19.03.10)

Caunton’s work includes supplying the steel framework and metal floor decking to cranked portal frame roof members with a lean-to building complete with curved roof & eaves cladding details, plus internal mezzanines. There are modifications to the existing building in to order to raise the roof in one bay, and steelwork too for a new Gatehouse.
