Nottingham University 2008 visit attracts record numbers

Caunton Engineering recently welcomed a record number of 38 students from Nottingham University’s Civil Engineering department on their annual visit to the company’s office and works. The BSc and MSc civil engineering students visited Caunton to acquaint themselves with the engineering and manufacturing process of structural steelwork. Pictured here is Dr Walid Tizani an Associate Professor and Vice Dean of Engineering for Postgraduate Affairs together with the students.

Caunton has built a strong relationship with the University of Nottingham over the years through our graduate sponsorship scheme and, in particular, the company’s ‘Knowledge Transfer Partnership’ (KTP) with the university.

Staying ahead and maintaining the company’s well established reputation takes constant new thinking and having a world-class research university close to the office & works really helps.

Caunton’s Managing Director, Simon Bingham, commented ‘Working with the University of Nottingham gives us great access to a real intellectual powerhouse; we’ve been close with the university for many years and undertook our first KTP over 10 years ago.’

The most recent KTP was to increase integration of Caunton’s computer system which resulted in a huge success for both parties increasing Caunton’s efficiency and improving organisational processes.

Caunton feel privileged to have the chance to work with this world-class university. The company looks forward to working alongside Nottingham University in the future, whilst every year welcoming their students to visit the manufacturing and engineering facilities.
